Solar Panel Basics

Solar panels use photovoltaic (PV) cells to convert sunlight into electrical energy. When sunlight hits the PV cells, it generates direct current (DC), which can be used to charge a portable power bank or power compatible devices through the corresponding output ports.

The number of solar panels required depends on your daily power consumption, the capacity of your portable power bank, and the available sunlight conditions.

For a power bank with a capacity of 500–600 Wh, one 100W solar panel is typically sufficient to meet daily charging needs.

For power banks with a capacity of 1,000 Wh or more, we recommend using two 100W solar panels to achieve faster charging speeds.

Actual charging performance may vary depending on sunlight intensity, weather conditions, the season, and the orientation of the solar panels.

Yes. Even on cloudy days, solar panels can generate electricity by capturing scattered light. However, their power output will be lower than on sunny days with direct sunlight. Pointing the panel toward the brightest area of the sky and avoiding obstructions will help maximize power generation efficiency.
A typical 100W portable solar panel has an open-circuit voltage (Voc) usually between 20–24V and a maximum power point voltage (Vmp) of approximately 17–20V. Specific parameters may vary by model. Be sure to verify that the panel’s output specifications match those of your portable power bank or solar charge controller.
Charging time depends on the battery capacity of the energy storage system, sunlight conditions, and weather conditions. Under ideal sunlight conditions, a 100W solar panel typically generates about 400–500Wh of electricity per day. In actual use, this may drop to 200–300Wh due to weather and the angle of the panel.

Yes. Most portable solar panels are designed for quick and easy setup and do not require professional installation. Simply unfold the panel, place it in direct sunlight, and connect it to a compatible portable power bank or solar charge controller using the appropriate cables.

For fixed rooftop solar systems, it is recommended that installation be performed by a professional to ensure safety, compliance with local regulations, and optimal performance.

Yes. Keeping solar panels clean helps maintain optimal performance. Dust, dirt, fallen leaves, bird droppings, and other debris can block sunlight from reaching the solar cells.

For routine cleaning, use plain water and a soft cloth or sponge. Avoid abrasive materials or harsh chemical cleaners, as they may damage the surface of the solar panels. Be sure to check that the solar panels have cooled down before cleaning.

Solar panels can still generate electricity in cold weather, but power output will drop significantly if the solar cells are completely covered by snow.

Provided it is safe to do so, you can gently brush away the snow with a soft brush to restore power generation. Never use sharp tools or apply excessive force, as this may damage the surface of the solar panel.

Setting up a portable solar panel is very simple:

We recommend first connecting the solar panel to a portable power bank or compatible device. Unfold the panel and place it in a location with direct, unobstructed sunlight.

Adjust the panel to face the sun for optimal charging. Verify that the power bank or device indicates it is charging.

Tip: For best performance, keep the panel clean, avoid obstructions, and adjust the panel’s angle as needed based on the sun’s position.
